The second product that I decide to import in finland is the Swiss raclette

First my action was to show this product to the team. I give you here my presentation also and here my powerpoint presentation to illustrate my idea :

"Raclette is a Swiss dish that traditionally involved taking a big chunk of cheese and melting the side of it near a fire. 

 

You would then scrape the melty cheese onto some bread or boiled potatoes. 

 

Nowadays, Raclette is made in Swiss restaurants using a big machine that you put a massive half round of cheese onto.

 

 

I think can be work in Finland because they love potatoes and like cheese. Furthermore it’s a winter dish so it fit perfectly with this cold country. 

 

 

So we can import shop of raclette stuff : like raclette corner, raclette Swiss. 

Restaurant of raclette : like some franchise les fondues de la raclette, Alpes. 

Restaurant not good idea because Finnish is conservative so difficult to import say the coach.  

 

Or just brand of raclette cheese like la superbe I think is the best option because we will can more  easily import brand of raclette cheese in a shop.

 

I stay open minded with this and try different possibilities 

the french or Swiss people say all the time is the best dish ever 

all the winter they wait to eat they first raclette 

it’s a user friendly dish we love it 

 

I think it can fit with the Finnish market because the consumer can be family so the target is very wide"

 

After this presentation the next step, was to analyse more the Finnish market of raclette cheese : the price, the brand.

And know if Finnish people can be seduce by the idea. Try to reflect on competitive advantages. 

"Finnish market place of raclette cheese :

 

In « normal market » : like liddle, K-market no raclette cheese only « gruyere », « emmental ».

In stockman : lots of Swiss cheese, very expensive cheese, 3 time more expensive then in France. 

In big market : Prisma , they sell raclette cheese only two brands but cheep it’s Entremont a French brands very cheap. 

 

So we can import expensive brands of raclette cheese in shop like Stockman with a hight end positioning. 

For the company the competitive advantage : -hight price : 3 time more expensive than in France. 

                                                                             -no concurrence : only 2 french brands imported. 

 

Habits of Fin : 

-3 restaurants of cheese raclette in Finland 

-after asking question to Fin, some of them has a grill of raclette in their house.

-Most part of them know this product."

 

After this analyse the next step is to identifying the right brand to import from France. Send approach mail to Swiss brand of raclette cheese and send them one picture of Finnish market in stockman. 

"Which brands we can import : 

  • Raclette suisse 

  • La raclette du valais 

  • Alpaekese 

  • La superbe 

Taking picture of different display of cheese in a shop. To show to french brands how is the Finnish market. But be clever and Show not too much things to do like a teasing. And attract them by showing hight prices and few competitors. So in this files you can see all the pictures:  

Now you can find my exemple of email : I send it to four companies with one picture.

je suis actuellement une étudiante en échange en Finlande, j’étudie au sein de la business academy. Au sein de celle ci j’ai la chance d’interagir avec des junior entreprises, leur but est d’aider des compagnies à trouver un marché potentiel sur lequel des entreprises comme vous peuvent s'implanter. 

Ayant analysé le marché actuel de la raclette en Finlande et spécialement à Turku, en prenant en compte les besoins des consommateurs et la diversité des produits et  les lieux de ventes, il me semble que la Finlande serai un marché potentiel pour implanter vos produits. 

D’une part, il s’avère qu’il existe uniquement deux marques de raclette qui se sont implanté sur le marché finnois ainsi le marché n’est pas saturé, ni concurrentiel :c’est un gros avantages pour vous. 

D’autre part le prix du fromages est très élevé ici cela vous permettrai de vous faire une réelle marge.

Ainsi je pense qu’il serai judicieux de réfléchir à cette opportunité, sans oublier que grâce à mon contact avec une junior entreprise finnoise votre entrée sur ce marché serai facilité.

Final situation I waited for their answers and tried to follow them up several times but I never got an answer.  

The problems encountered:

  • the big difficulty was  the non-investment of my team because is was difficult to know idea could work in Finland because they know better as me the finish market.

  • To write the mail for the french company it was tricky because how explain well the situation without say too much or not enough. 

  • no answer of companies.
